Gentle tips for coping with fatigue and low energy during recovery or illness. Practical ways to rest, recharge, and care for yourself.
Fatigue is one of the hardest parts of recovery. It can feel like your body is letting you down. But tiredness isn't failure - it's healing in action.
Here are three ways to cope with low energy days:
#1 - Rest without guilt
Healing takes energy. Allow yourself to take frequent short naps or rest breaks to conserve energy.
#2 - Try "energy bursts"
Do something small, then rest. A 5-minute slow walk around the house or garden to gently engage muscles and boost mood, or a gentle stretch can lift your energy without draining you. These activities also release endorphins that help with mental wellbeing.
Sit near a window or outside for fresh air and sunlight to support vitamin D and mood.
"Small steps forward, even on low-energy days, are still progress - let your kindness towards yourself recharge your spirit."
#3 - Simplify
Use shortcuts - opt for ready-made, easy-to-prepare meals like smoothies, canned soups, or meal delivery services to reduce cooking effort. Stay hydrated to prevent fatigue from dehydration.
Ask family, or friends to help with chores, or use services for cleaning and online grocery shopping.
Tiredness isn't weakness. It's your body asking for care.
